Intro to Kickboxing Online Class

Thursdays, 6:15pm-7pm PT

Looking for a fun and practical workout during the pandemic? Intro to Kickboxing teaches the basic kicks and punches used in kickboxing as well as offering a fun and dynamic workout. Kickboxing is a perfect skill to begin in a remote setting because the basic movements are best learned through solo drills (shadowboxing) with no equipment or partner needed. Punches and kicks will be done in the air. This class will prepare you for future kickboxing or boxing classes, online or in-person!

This class can be taken in any indoor or outdoor space with a bit of room to move. There will be a small number of movements performed on the ground (e.g. stretches, sit-ups). Movements can be modified to accommodate for space limitations or injuries.

Intro to Kickboxing is taught by a female instructor with over fifteen years of training and teaching experience. Detailed feedback will be provided in a small class setting to get you started on your kickboxing journey.

Begin your journey towards self-empowerment by learning how to protect yourself in a safe, supported, empowered environment.

Once a month we offer  a 2-hour Women’s Self-defense Workshop taught by seasoned female Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts. You’ll learn a set of safety strategies and leverage based physical techniques that will help you prevent, escape, resist and survive assaults from bigger and stronger attackers. The workshops are held on the first Saturday of each month at Four Elements Fitness in Oakland, CA.

At the workshop you will learn life saving skills such as:

  • Simple and practical safety strategies and assertiveness skills

  • Hone your intuition to practice anywhere

  • Boundary setting and self-advocacy in dangerous situations strangers, and everyday interactions with people we know

  • How to make yourself a “hard” target to prevent potential attacks

  • Learn the concepts of distance management to avoid getting punched or grabbed

  • How to escape from underneath an attacker who has you pinned you to the ground

  • Selected self-defense techniques designed to work regardless of fitness level or size that are quick to learn, easy to retain and simple to execute.

Each workshop starts with a series of warm-up exercises followed by instruction in a specific skill, and techniques practiced with a partner. The workshops end with partner drills to build confidence and strengthen muscle memory.
