Jiu-Jitsu has a learning curve, and starting any new martial art can be daunting. Let us help you begin your journey. Intro to Jiu-Jitsu is taught by a Jiu-Jitsu black belt instructor and designed for any body type, fitness level, ages 9+ with little to no experience. The welcoming environment allows you to develop a foundation and learn the basics of Jiu-Jitsu in a relaxed, non-threatening, and fun environment, ideal for beginners. The comprehensive curriculum includes basic positions, techniques, submissions, and escape movements. With the fundamentals workshops you will develop confidence and the ability to learn self-defense and the art of Jiu-Jitsu, as well as safely prepare you to participate in group classes. The benefits won’t stop there; you will also improve your fitness, balance, coordination, and strength.
Training sessions include Ginastica Natural warm-up exercises followed by instruction in a Jiu-Jitsu specific movements, and techniques practiced solo. Class ends with drills to build confidence and strengthen muscle memory.
No partner required. A large portion of movements for this will be performed on the ground, so a mat or soft flooring is recommended. Movements can be modified to accommodate for space limitations or injuries.

What is Jiu-Jitsu?
The word “Jiu-Jitsu” derives from the Japanese “Jū” meaning “gentle” and “Jutsu” meaning “art”; essentially, Jiu-Jitsu is the “gentle art.” Jiu Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principles of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent. Unlike other martial arts that focus on strikes and/or kicks, Jiu-Jitsu focuses on close-contact “grappling” holds and techniques, and the application of chokes and joint-manipulations.
